The Gypsy Bowtop

The brief here was to create a traditional gypsy bowtop caravan on a modern caravan chassis. It had to be light, well insulated and of the beautiful craftsmanship expected of a gypsy caravan.

The result was a modern interpretation, but of local milled Red Cedar and 15 foot steam bent Ash from the Dartington estate.

During covid and post Brexit, we were contacted with the unique brief to flatpack this in our warehouse, drive it to south Portugal and commence construction. Amazingly it worked!

It is our best carpentry job to date and has inspired us to build more.
